I lii his bush missionary career, extending over a little more than 18 years. Mr Philip Lewis has travelled 76.800 miles, of which lie has walked 40.000. in the, outback districts of Australia (writes tho Australian Christian World). His mission is to look after the spiritual welfare of shearers, boundary' riders, miners-, selectors and their families, and Macks in tho lonely snots of New South Wales and Queensland. At Morgan, in Queensland, he visited a settlement, of 600 blacks, with school, hospital, and other civilised institutions, which are due largelv to the efforts of tho Church. Mr Lewis is of Jewish descent, and is well known in the lonely spaces of Australia, where he is welcomed by families who seldom have the chance of taking part in a church service. Two lady inspectors of places of publio amusement have commenced their duties at Birmingham.
