SHOOTING AFFRAY.

MARION, January 8. A shooting affray took place at Marton Junction early yesterday morning. Robert Elder attempted 10 enter the residence of Stephen Fisher, a returned soldier. Failing in this, he was walking away, when it is alleged that Fieher tired several bullets from 'a Winchester rifle. One struck a book in Elder's hip pocket, inflicting _ a flesh wound. Another bullet struck Elder in the ribs. He was taken to Wanganui Hospital. No serious complications aro anticipated. Fisher waa arrested and charged with discharging firearms with intent to do bodily harm. He was remanded till January -5. Bail was allowed.
