According to advice received, two Maoris from the Gisborno district have been awarded the Military Medal (says the Gisborno Times). They are Sergeant Rotoatara. of Wairoa, and T. P. Sydney, from To Ka.ra.ka. Both men left Gisborno with the First Native Contingent, and served in Gallipoli, and afterwards took part in the great push on the Somme. The work of the Arbitration Court this year establishes a record for the past 16 years, both in regard to the number of industrial oases dealt with, the volume of reports, and the clerical work accomplished. Peculiarly enough there have been fewer claims than usual under the Workers' Compensation Act.
