In some of the orchards peaches and apricots are beginning to ripen (says the Alexandra Herald), and with the present warm weather there will be a general ripening of these fruits during the coming week.

IMPERIAL REQUISITION OF WOOL As the Valuing of Wool under the Government's scheme has to be done so carefully that a much longer time is required to ensure justice being dono than under the usual method of disposal, the Woolbrokers and Valuers deem it necessary to make the following Arrangements to Enable the Wool to be Properly Handled, and for the Fair and Smooth Working of the Scheme. VALUATIONS will Commence in Dun edin on the Bth JANUARY, 22nd JANUARY, sth FEBRUARY, 19th FEBRUARY. sth MARCH, 19th MARCH, and 2nd APRIL, and thereafter FORTNIGHTLY, if the quantity available warrants it. The Brokers will, in the aggregate, be limited to 1500 lots per valuation, and these lots will in the meantime bo portioned out amongst the Brokers in accordance with their sales of wool last season. As far as possible, clips will be offered in the order of complete arrival, but growers are requested not _to rush their wools in if they can conveniently delay deliveries, as the extra handling and storage room required >s a vastlv increased quantity under the scheme, while shipping space promises to be shorter than ever. The Brokers feel sure that the growers will extend every consideration to them in assisting to make tho scheme work satisfactorily, and that they will exhibit, a reasonable amount of patience and forbearance in nil tho circumstances.
