TAIERI COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Taien County Council was held on .Friday; present—Crs Gow (chairman), Blair, Blackie, Doherty, Kempshell, and Christie. The engineer's report was adopted. The Ranger reported having impounded 36 cattle and three horses during the month, and the fees collected amounted to 16s.- ■ Adopted. Tho Finance Committee recommended accounts amounting to £llsO 12s 8d for payment. The receipts for tho past four weeks amounted to £1441 lis 3d, and the bankbook showed a debit balance of £SO 18s 6d. In regard to a petition from the surfacemen for a war bonus, the committee recommended that a 10 per cent, war bonus on the wages paid be given to the inspector of works, sanitary inspector, and surfacemen, during the currency of the war, and to fake effect from next pay day.—Adopted.
The Under-secretary for Internal Affairs notified that the Minister had suggested January 24 as a suitable date for the conference between tho City Council, the Waikouaiti County Council, and the Taieri County. Council, respecting the question of exemption of waterworks lands from rating. —The council approved of tho date suggested.
