CONCERT AT MOSGIEL.
Amongst the annual entertainments in Mosgiel, that of the Presbyterian Bible Ckf-ses is always looked forward to as one of the best, and this year the reputation was easily maintained. The hall was filled on the 9th with an appreciative audience, which showed its delight with the programme bv hearty applause and frequent crcores. The programme opened with a chorus, march, and tableau, "John Bull's Femily," in which a company of young ladies (in nairs) were attired to represent the British overseas dominions, while Mr Logan looked the part of John Bull to perfection. The march was very effective, and at the closo the National Anthem was sung. Miss Aslin was encored for her musical monologue, "Catch Me." The gollywog dance by the Roslyn Bible Class girls was quite a novelty, and the item had to bo repeated. Mrs Munro gave delightful renderings of " Awake " and Tosti's " Goodbye," ' and Mr Johnston contributed a very entertaining item on a concertina and, as an encore, a representation of the bagpipes. Mr Colo proved himself a lightning sketch artist of more than average ability. In the second part the same performers acquitted themselves equally well. The programme closed with a fairy scene by the Bible Class members. The stage setting was beautiful, and the girls were admirable in their singing, dances, etc. Miss Swan acted 'as accompanist,- and the Rev. D. Calder presided. The concert was in aid of the orphanage funds. Mr Axclscn delivered a short address, in the course of which ho mentioned that 55 of those passing through the orphanage were now serving their King and country- A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the performers.
