Tho nominations received for the Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting are very satisfactory. Mr Coyle will declare the handicaps for the first day after the Hawke's Bay meeting on Monday next. Word has been received from Sydney that Hector Gray has been unsuccessful in his application to the Australian Jockey Club for a jockey's license. Tho Wellington Racing Club will hear next week two appeals from decisions given at the Horowhenua Racing Club's meeting. Mr Tatham, owner of Orleans, has appealed against the stakes in the Cup going to Master Moutoa on the grounds that the rider of that horse did not weigh in with part of the breastplate. Wfl CJ. Trask is appealing against his suspension for two months for administering a stimulant (whisky and water) to Keynote. This week was the first time that a North Island owner was represented at a Knrow meeting. Mr Whitney's horses do some racing and travelling in both islands. After racing at Kurow and Duncdin, Trentham Rose is to fulfil her engagement in tho Wellesley Stakes at Trentham. Desert Cold is reported to be galloping in her best style at Napier Park. She should be in good nick to take on all comers in the Champion Plate at Trentham. Whakahoki and Sir Alba both showed signs of unsoundness at Napier Park, and are unlikely to make tho next payment for the Now Zealand Cup. Lingerie, winner of the Juvenile Handicap at Napier Park, was well backed in Wellington. He. is owned by Dan O'Meara, stud groom at Tc Ivfflhanga. and trained by J. Farmer at Awapuni. Finery, dam of Lingerie, was a smart performer in tho colours of Mr T. H. Lowry. Nineteen youngsters remain in the Welleslcv Stakes after payment of second forfeit.
