HANMER SPRINGS.
October 7. —Another excellent concert was held in the Nurso Cavell Ward of the Queen Mary Hospital on Thursday, sth inst. The
ward was well filled with a most enthusiastic. audience-. The Queen Mary Hospital Pierrot Troupe gave the first half of the programme, and the Queen Mary Hospital Ragtime Band, assisted by civilians, provided the second half. The band, under the baton of i's able conductor, Private Hopkins, received great applause for its well-rendered items. Songs wore sung by Mrs Atkinson, Miss Stewart, Messrs Graves and Richards, Privates DohBOil, Wansbonc, Dickson, Harding-, and Clinton; recitation? by Captain Hendry, N.Z.M.C., and Private Hopkins; violin solos by Messrs Prudens and Christensen; and piano solo by Mi 'Virtue. Miss Rennell, Miss Summers, Private Campbell, and Corporal Hadon played the accompaniments. The sum of .£ll lGs 8d was collected for "Our Day." In making the announcement Captain liardhnm, V.C., in a very able speech described the great work that was being done by the Red Cross. Next Thursday a competition evening will be held, to which all are welcome. The hulks of the district will provide the supper.
