WAIKOUAITI COUNTY COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of the Waikouaiti County Council was held on Friday. All the n.'.embers were present. The inspector's reports on the various ridings were received. He stated that 150 yards of rotten rock, at bs per yard, would bo needed to put the Kilmog ilill in fair repair.—lt was decided that the inspector should give a. detailed report on the work required on the hill, and that this report be forwarded to the Otago Motor Club, with a view to receiving financial assistance. — The inspector suggested a widening of 3ft at the junction of the Port. Chalmers-Blueskin and Hayward's Point roads, at an estimated cost of £2. Portion of the Port ChalmersBlueskin road was getting low in the centre, and to put it in good order £0 yards of metal were needed (cost £ls).—The works named were authorised to be done. A letter was forwarded by the Valuation Department advising- that the council's protect against the exemption from rating of certain lands in the- Waikouaiti County belonging to the Dunedin City Corporation and the municipality of Port Chalmers had been referred to tiic Minister of Internal affairs. As regarded hospital and charitable aid rate, the Waikouaiti County Council was not liable for payment of rates on '•exempted" lands in the county belonging to other loeal authorities. The summary of the totals furnished to the council as at March 31 contained a clerical error, the Dunedin City Corporation's "exempted" properties being improperly included with rateable properties in tho North-East Valley Riding; but the error had been corrected in an amended summary, the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board's levy being based on the totals as at the preceding March 31, however, it was clear that the error could not have affected the amount to be contributed by the council.—Received. Captain Hankey sought permission to do necessary filling-in and piping to make a level road from the main road to his section at the end of Terrace road, Warrington. —Request granted: work to bo done to the satisfaction of the inspector. Accounts amounting to £IBO 7s 5d worn passed for payment.
