CENTRAL OTAGO APPLES.
SILVER GILT MEDAL AWARDED. LONDON, July 18. The Horticultural Society has awarded the Banksian Silver Gilt Medal, to Messrs A. Moritzson and Co., of Dunedin, for his fine collection of apples. Tho exhibit for which Messrs A. Moritzson and Co. have been awarder! the Banksian medal nt the Royal Horticultural Society's Show in London, for a collection of apples, waa supplied by the following Otago orchardists:—Messrs Waigth and Sons, Warrenheip Orchard, Roxburgh, five cases; Mr Albert Birch. Birchdalo Orchard, Roxburgh, four cases; Messrs Duncan and Vanes. Benholm Orchard, El-trick, four canes; Mr F. G. Duncan, Fruitvu'c Orchard,
Ettrick, seven cases; Mr John Hawley, Omoo Orchard, Earnscleugh, five cases; Mr G. M. Marshall. Matangi Orchard, Earnscleugh, three cases. The following varieties were sent: —Cox's Orange Pippin, Jonathan, Newton Pippin, New York Pippin (Cleopatra), Scarlet Nonpareil, Five Crown Pippin (London Pippin), Delicious, Rome Beauty, Esopus Spitzonberg, Stayman Winesap, and Stunner Pippins.
