And Other Chest and Tliroa.t Troubles Sir Rider Haggard, the eminent novelist, is a man who thinks, writer, and acts Imperially. There are few better-known men in the British Empire. Those to whom his name is not familiar through his many books, notably "King Solomon's Mines," "She," "Ayesha," "Dawn," "Jess," "Cleopatra," and other of his works, are clearly non-readers of fiction, for there are few more widely-read books in *he English Uvnguage. Those in New Zealand who do not know him as a writer are, however, acquainted with him because of the great work done by him for the advancement of scientific agriculture, and still later because of the mission upon which he has just visited Australasia, viz., the carrying on of negotiations with the various Governments for the settlement of British soldiers on the land. Having fulfilled this mission, the distinguished Ambassador of Empire, as he has been aptly termed, sailed on his return journey for the Mother Country. He only called at Sydney for a few hours, but he found time to instruct his Secretary to pay a distinct and unique compliment to the discoverer and manufacturer of Hean's Essence, the following extract being from a letter dated Sydney, M ly 24: MR. G. W. HEAN, Chemist. Dear Sir, — It may interest you to know that I am taking Hean's Essence with me on my return journey to England, where I shall be pleased to bring its merits under .the notice of my friends. Yours faithfully, A. R. U. CORBETT, ' Secretary for SIR RIDER HAGGARD. Sir Rider Haggard's first acquaintance with Hean's Essence was at Adelaide. That he should have seen fit to express the foregoing appreciation, and undertake to make its merits known among his friends in England, is undoubtedly the highest compliment ever paid to a New Zealand medicinal product. Hean's Essence is to-day used in the vast majority of homes all over Australasia, and its high repute is quickly becoming Empire wide. It is admitted on every hand that no finer remedy is procurable for colds, influenza, bronchitis, croup, whooping cough, catarrh, and other chest and throat troubles. As a money-saver Hean's Essence is unrivalled. Each bottle produces a pint of superior qu?'':y mixture. A-pint of ordinary cough remedies costs at least 1 2s. Hean's Essence costs only 2s (by post 2s 3d), and is obtainable from all leading chemists and stores, or from the Manufacturer, l VJB SI CHEMIST mass
