WELLINGTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) June 30. Mount Victoria, the only Trenthain horse to compete at Napier Park, failed to show up prominently at the finish of his races. He remained for the Hawke’s Bay meeting, as also did the Porirua team, and the Otaki horses Ilushabye and Immcr. Bransfiold and Sir Solo were brought back to Opaki. El Gallo is engaged in the 'Wellington Steeplechase only at the local meeting. Handicaps for the first day of the Wellington meeting will bo announced after the conclusion of the Hawke’s Bay fixture. Although Waimai has _ won sCosovs in stakes this winter, ho is still eligible to compete among the hacks. He won at Waikato and Auckland, Mr M. T. M'Grath, the well-known New Zealand owner-trainer, was married at Glenhuntlcy (Vic.) on the 14th mst. to a Mastcrton lady. Mr E. A. Connolly, the well-known Victorian owner, was best man.

It is reported that there will be a fairly largo contingent of Auckland horses competing at Trentharn this winter, llopyc and Blucstone are already mentioned as likely to run well in their engagements, although, the weights have not yet appeared. After making all arrangements for tho reception of trio remains of tho Into Mr A. Goodwin, Mr Frank Armstrong returned to Napier on Thursday.

Tho All Rod—Hermosa filly in J. W. Lowe's stable is shaping well in her work at headquarters. She will probably make her first appearance in public in tho Trial Plato at tho forthcoming meeting. The- jumpers Doon and Silver Monarch

This will follow tho National gathering, and fit m before Marton, where the jumping meetings in tho new season open.
