PAPAL TEMPORAL POWER

ROME, June 13. The Pope, with the intention of safeguarding the Holy See’s diplomatists from war risks, has bought the steamer Mincius, and the Government is permitting the use of Civita Vecchia (the port at Rome) for a harbourage. The vessel is painted white and yellow, and flies the Papal flag —the first time such a thing has occurred since the loss of the Pope’s temporal power. The Mincius is to convey the new Papal Nuncio to Buenos Aires.
