NO NEW VOTES THIS YEAH. WELLINGTON, June 15. The .Minister of Public Works., in -a statement to-night, said that no now voles -would bo placed on tho Public Works Estimate this year. Ho had no now money to work on, and tho only money voted would be unspent balances. If this pressed hard on the back-blocks, where th* need for roads was urgent, tho county councils j&ould revise their lists after the Estimates
were laid on the table of the House and rocommond to him an alteration and transfer of votes, so as to meet the more urgent requirements. During tho spring ho would visit the country centres, where local budy members could meet him and arrange for an adjustment of expenditure.
