INDUSTRIAL UNREST IN AUSTRALIA
MELBOURNE, May 31. A report made by the Secretary of Labour to the State Premier regarding the industrial unrest and the pi'omotion of efficiency recommends a more general adoption of piecework in framing the determination of Wages Boards as a corrective for slowing down, and profit-sharing as an incentive to emplovees to do good work. SYDNEY, June 4. Three hundred cold storage men have struck as a protest against the refusal of the employers to grant the 5s increase previously awarded. The men have decided, however, to handle food for the troops, hospitals, and charitable institutions.
