CHALMERS LICENSING COMMITTEE.
The annual meeting of the Chalmer» Licensing Committee was held at Port Chalmers on .Friday morning. Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M. (chairman) presided, and there were also present Messrs D. M. Mawson, G. L. Asher, and E. W. Isbister. Tho Chairman stated that with regard to the conduct of the hotels in the district the police report showed that it had been uniformly good, with tho single exception that the licenseo of the- White House Hotel at Henley had been fined £5 for supplying liquor to a person apparently under the ago of 21 years. The committee wan pleaded to notice that Mr M'Kogg had effected a number of improvements to the hotel building', and tho establishment gener> ally was well conducted. The police report also showed that the necessary alterations to the ShielHill Hotel had been effected The committee then proceeded with tho following business : —■ Mosgiel Hotel, Mosgiel.—James Matheson applied for a permanent transfer of his license to Joseph Biggins.—Granted. Mosgiel Hotel, Mosgiel.—Joseph Biggins applied for a publican's license in respeot of this hotel.—Granted. The following applications for renewals of publicans' licenses were granted:—Creaent Hotel, Carey Bay—Ellen Mackie» Chick's Hotel, Port Chalmers—Ernest Godgred. Marino Hotel, Port Chalmers—Edward M'Kewen. Provincial Hotel, Port Chalmers—Duncan M'Kenzie, Port Chalmers Hotel—John Douglas Warden. Gcorgo Hotel, Port Chalmers—Norman Maedonald, Portobello Hotel—James M'Chisikey. Rail* way Hotel. Mosgiel—Alfred M'lvor M-Robie. £hiel Hill Hotel—Ernest Eli Hill Howe. White House Hotel, Henley—> Amos M'Kegg.
