GAELIC SOCIETY.

Thu ordinary monthly meeting of thia society was held at the Orchestral Hall, Rattray street, on the 30th. The departure irom the fixed date of meeting--namely, the first Tuesday ot each month, was made to suit the many friends of the society now visiting Dunedin for the Winter iShow. Mr Dugald M‘Phorson occupied the chair, and extended a hearty Highland welcome to the visitors. Regarding the Highlands and Islands Relief Fund, ho announced that Mr M‘Lonnan. of Tapanni, had presented the fund with a fat sheep, which, he hoped, would take the first prize' at the show, and in connection with which it was purposed to hold a weight-guessing competition. Th> sheep would ho sold afterwards, and the proceeds placed to the credit of the fund. Mr M‘Pherson drew attention to the “All for Empire League,” now being formed, and hoped it would bo well patronised. The object of this league is for the encouragement of British and Allies-made goods to the dcSfc’mcnt of the threatened dumping of German goods in British and colonial markets after the war. Mr Alastair M‘Dom:k : . and Mr Archibald M'Millan played the national music, and Miss Dundon played the accompaniments. Songs were contributed by Mr Win. Morrison, Miss Duncan, Chieftain Kenneth Cameron. Miss M'Rao, Mr Paterson, Miss M'Donald, Mr J. D. Cameron, Miss Nance Duncan, and dances by Miss Frame, Miss Murray, Miss Ward, and an Irish jig by Trooper C. MTCenzie.
