HOBART, April 4.

The general election resulted in the defeat of the Labour Government, through the Liberals capturing a seat. The final returns are : Liberals 15 Labour 14 Independent 1 The last named (Mr Whitsitt) broke from the Liberal Party at the last Parliament.
