OAMARU STOCK MARKET. GThom Ocb Ows Correspondent.) OAMARU, February 12. The stock market has show n a little more life during the week, due entirely to southern buyers being- here in search of 6tock. A few lots of sound-mouthed ewes have been sold at 12s to 14s. A good many rape lambs have changed hands at from 12s 6d to 14s. The biggest amount of business has. been' done in cattle, southern buyers having bought heavily. Dairy oattlo are in good inquiry, and several line 6 have been sold at from £5 to £5 15s, and the demand still continues. Other classes of cattle have been sold at the following rates, all being destined for the south :—-Forward three-year-old steers, £lO ss; store three-year steers, up to £8; mixed two and a-half arid threeyear steers and heifers, £8 17s 6d; forward cows, £6 7s 6d; store cows, £3 to £5; two-year-old steers, £5 to £6; eighteenmonths steers, good quality, £3 to £3 10s; calves, 20s. Stock.— xne amount ol Dus.iiess- in stock during the week has been of small dimensions, the only transaction ol any s.ze being in fat cattle, for which there was a very strong demand, both from -freezing operators and trom butchers. Freezing men at the Wallacetown sale on Tuesday Vere very strong on the market, and bought a considerable number out of practically the largest yarding ever .seen at Wallacetown. Prices, compared with those of the previous week, were about the same. In the sheep section there was a fairly decent yarding. The quality was not very good, but, taking the salo all over, the prices realised were very lair. Frecz.ng buyers were in evidence, and their operations werti the main means of keeiiing the market dear. The turnip feed throughout Southland is going to be exceptional —in fact, as far as feed is concerned, one of the best winters the province may ever For decent forward bullocks and forward sheep for fattening a very fair market is anticipated, the demand for both these classes being sure to be fairly strong in about a month or six weeks. Prices are as follow : —Fat cattle : Ox beef, 43s 6d to 44s 6d; heifer beef, 42s to 435; cow beef, 39s to 40s. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRIS'iCHLfRCH, February 9. At Addington to-day there were larger entries of all classes of sheep, especially stores. The attendance was also more numerous than usual. Fat cattle were irregular, but were rather easier. As the bulk of the harvest is now completed, and there has been some rain there was a large attendance of buyers, and a keen demand for forward sheep. Good ewes showed an advance in prices. Fat lambs were also firmer, and fat sheep sold at about last week's rates on the average. DOMINION RUBBER COMPANY The above company reports that the proceeds of the November rubber amounted to £I7OO, and that the weight harvested in January was 18,4001 b. STANDARD INSURANCE COMPANY. The annual report of the directors of the Standard Firo and Marine Insurance Company of New Zealand for the year ended December 31, states that the income, including the balance brought forward from last year, amounts to £145.846 18s Id, and the expenditure to £100.621 13s 6d, leaving a balance of £45,225 _4s 7d. From this amount an interim dividend was paid in June, amounting tr» £3750. The directors have dealt with tljj balance in the following manner :—To reserve fund, £16,000 ; to re-insurance reserve fund, £5000; to guarantee and provident fund, £2500; to depreciation of securities, £2500.
