AUSTRALIAN MINERS’ WAGES

MELBOURNE, December 24. In the Arbitration Court, Mr Justice Powers fixed 10s 6d as the wage for an eight hours’ shift of skilled miners in New South Wales, Victoria, and Jasmania, allowing 11s Id for Mount Lyell. The term of the award :s for three years from January 1. It provides that in very wet places six hours shall be paid for at the rate of eight. The ruling rate in Victoria is at present Bs, with an allo-wanco for wet places.
