At about 10.30 on the 30fch ult. Do- j jective-scrgeant Kemp and Detective Hall wrested Percival Alfred Stanley, the husband of Catherine Stanley, who died at the Dunedin Hospital on October 6. The charge against iStanley is, in effect, that, on July 6, ho attempted unlawfully to supply to his ( .wife a certain noxious tiling, knowing that it was intended to be unlawfully used. An hour later Stanley was brought before Mr :Widdowson at a special sitting of the Police Court. Chief-detective Bishop asked for a remand until one day this week, and his
Worship fixed on Friday for the hearing of the case. Mr J. It. M. Lemon, who appeared for accused, asked for bail, and the chiefdetective said he did not oppose the application. The magistrate fixed bail at £2OO, with two sureties in £IOO each or one in £2OO. A bondsman was immediately forthcoming, and Stanley was released. The daily milk supply at the Wynclham Dairy Factory is over 30,000 gallons (says the Herald). A record season is anticipated, and accordingly the directors are installing a now 800 gallon vat to replace one of 600-gallon capacity.
