ATTITUDE OF RUMANIA.
BUCHAREST, October 23. It is reported that Rumania will intervene on condition that the Allies send 400,000 men to the Balkans. Britain and France arc stated to have accepted the offer, and Rumania is preparing to attack Bulgaria. PETROGRAD, October 23. The Novoe Vremya publishes an in* terview with a Rumanian envoy, a near relative of M. Bratiano, who has arrived in Petrograd on a special mission on behalf of the Rumanian Foreign Office. He states emphatically that the army and navy are wholly on the side of the Allies, and all are convinced that Rumania will shortly abandon her neutrality. Her delay is due to the absence of an adequate supply of munitions. She has almost ready an army of 600,000 men, which can be increased to 1,100,000. The War Office has already concentrated 320,000 men in the Carpathians. FRENCH AT SALONIKA. PARIS, October 24. A communique states: The landing of French troops at Salonika continues with regularity under the best of conditions. ITALY’S AID. LONDON, October 23. The Daily Telegraph’s Milan correspondent states that the newspapers are actively discussing the question of Italy’s aid. There are widely divergent views, but undoubtedly generosity is not lacking. In the event of the Allies asking for more men Italy will willingly make the sacrifice. Troops will be easily available if they are required to strengthen the Allies’ expedition on behalf of Serbia.
