RECOGNITION OF BRAVERY. CHRISTCHURCH'. October 20. The Royal Humane Society granted the following awards to-day:— In the case of John Lyell Delghton {2O years) and Henry Allen Evetts, for attempting to rescue Thomas James Stevenson (43 years) from drowning at Napier on July 15, Heighten was awarded a gold medal and Evetts a certificate. Walter Orrnsby (15 years), for rescuing two boys named William and Norman Speedy from drowning at Waihi on July 14, was awarded a silver medal. William Joseph Bishop (29 years), for rescuing John H. Gilchrist (about 35 years) from drowr-'ng at Gisborne on January 21, received a silver medal. Maurice L. Davies (39 years), for rescuing Cecil Timmins (four years) from drowning at Waikino on July 1, was awarded a bronze medal. Hans Edgar (55 years), for attempting to rescue Frederick Baton (36 years) from drowning at Karanghake on April 25, received a bronze modal. Charles S. V. Pearce (15 years), for rescuing Neil Culling (11 years) from drowning at Ashburton on July 17, received a framed certificate. Senior Sergeant Thomas Eourke (58 years), for rescuing Joan Bree (two years) from drowning at Wanganui on July 11, received a certificate. Henry James Thompson (22 years), for rescuing Alfred Mus son (23 years) from drowning at Clive Grange on January 6, was awarded a bronze medal.
