ROME, October 7. The Emperor of Austria is seriously ill, and his heir and Counts Burian and Tisza have been summoned to his bedside. His condition is alarming. The heir-presumptive to the AustriaHungary throne is the Archduke Karl Fran a Joseph, grandson of the late Archduke Karl Ludwig and Princess Annunciata, daughter of the late King Ferdinand II of Naples. He was born in 1887, and was married in 1911 to Zita, Princess of Bourbon and Parma, who was born in 18S2. There are three children —two sons and a daughter. There are two daughters of King Francis Joseph—the Archduchess Giscla, married to Prince Leopold, and the Archduchess Maria Valeria, married to Franz Salvator, Archduke of Austria-Tuscany.
