CREW OF PHILOMEL.

THREE DEATHS FROM HEAT. WELLINGTON, September 29. The Minister of Defence has had a communication from Captain Hall-Thompson, of H.M.S. Philomel, which, as is generally known, is operating “somewhere east of Suez.” Captain Hall-Thompson reports that the following three members of the crew lost their lives in action against the Turks on September 26 —George Phillips (chief potty officer), George Richard Talmay (leading seaman), and Bruce Sydney Beagley (able seaman). All were men of the Royal Navy, lent for serivee with the Philomel. The three men died of heatstroke. They were on the strength of two Maxim gun-crews which were landed from the ship to cooperate with the forces ashore.
