PROFESSOR VON ZEDLITZ.
WELLINGTON, October 4. At an informal meeting of members of the Victoria College Council, attended by Messrs Fleming, Ferguson, Aitkeu, Morton, Morrison, Wright, Atkinson, Latrobe, the Rev. W. Evans, and Professors Adamson and Brown, the subject of Professor von Zedlitz’s resignation was considered.
it was decided that a properly convened meeting be held on Saturday to consider the following motion “That in deference to the repeated request hy Professor von Zcdlitz that he bo relieved of his duties, his resignation be accepted with deep regret, and that he bo paid six months’ salary in terms of his contract, and that this council do hereby place on record its appreciation of the high standard which has marked his teaching and influence during nearly 14 years of faithful service to this college, and its .appreciation of the honourable spirit in which the professor has discharged his duties both before and since the outbreak of the war, and, further, that this council do express its rcjjret that Professor von Zodlitz should have been compelled to insist on his resignation against the definite wishes of the Victoria College Council, and of his students and against the best interests of the college.”
