RACING IN AUSTRALIA
VICTORIA AMATEUR TURF CLUB; PROFIT ON EVERY MEETING. MELBOURNE, September 28. At the annual meeting of -the Victoria Amateur Turf Club the chairman stated that every meeting had shown a profit. The club had distributed £2500 to various patriotic funds, and the net profit for the year would also be distributed, making an aggregate of £5267. NEW SOUTH WALES FIXTURES. j stood that Is has been determined by | those in authority that the number of racing days in New South Wales will not j be reduced during the currency of the war. | One who is largely interested in a pony j racing club declares that an offer has been made by the associated racing clubs to the Government to contribute £2OO for each of the 22 days’ racing held in the State annually to the patriotic fund, provided the number of racing days is not curtailed.
In accepting this offer the Premier (Mr Holman) is said to have suggested that the money be donated to the Allies’ Day Fund alone.
