CUTTING THE TURKS’ LINES
LONDON, August 11. Karachali, where a fresh landing has been effected, is on the road to the Enos=Bulair line. It is on the north shore of the Gulf of Saros, five miles westward of Khojachesem, on the main route of Turkish supplies for Gallipoli since the British submarines stopped the traffic by way of the Sea of Marmora. Sir lan Hamilton now threatens to cut their only land highway. RUSSIAN SUCCESSES. PETROGEAD, August 11. A Caucasus official message states : In the direction of the Euphrates we pursued the Turks, capturing a position at Palanieken, with a quantity of material, a caravan of camels, and many prisoners. We captured Merghemir Pass after a desperate struggle, ’and the enemy withdrew southward in disorder.
