KAITANGATA NOTES.
(Froh Our Own Correspondent.) KAITAXGATA, August 10. The school and minors hold a very successful ball in Wilson's Hall on Friday. Dancing was kept up till the early hours of the morning. On Saturday the school and miners had a sports day at the local school grounds. There was a large attendance of the public, and some nice games. etc., were carried out. A donkey provided ample amusement for the children, and good business was done at the refreshment rooms. The Sports held a very successful concert in Wilson's Hall on Friday night. A splendid programme was provided, and the attendance was exceptionally good. The annual meeting of the Kaitangata Bowling Club was held on Wednesday. Mr J. Gage presided. _ The balance sheet showed a small credit balance for the past year. The following officers were elected: President, Captain Rutherford; vice-presi-dent. Mr J. Pvyde; secretary. Mr W. ,7. Smith; committee —Messrs W. Penman. James Parity. H. Carson. W. Duncaii. D. Middlemass, W, MXaren ; auditors—Messrs P. Souness. T. Middlemass; delegates to centre, the president and vice-president. It was decided to purchase the present green, and Mr Blackie, Captain Rutherford, and Mr D. P. Clements were appointed to carry out details. Mr Hawkins has jus! completed the building of a 14ft boat for use on the _ river. It is his intention to place an engine in it. The workmanship is very good, and reflects credit on the builder.
