AUSTRALIAN CROP PROSPECTS

MELBOURNE, August 13. In introducing the Budget Mr Fisher stated that the crop outlook throughout the commonwealth, excepting in the greater part of Queensland, where the rain had been below normal, was very favourable. He estimated the area under wheat to be in the vicinity of million acres, and with favourable weather there should be a record crop. August 14. The Inter-State Conference has decided to abolish border restrictions and to facilitate the transportation of wheat. The conference also discussed the chartering of vessels for the export of wheat. August 16. An Interstate Conference has approved of an arrangement whereby the commonwealth, with the co-operation of the States, will exclusively control and charter steamers for the export of the forthcoming wheat crop, and also approved of an arrangement already made by the commonwealth"with certain shipping firms in the matter.
