VOLUNTEER SISTERS.
GOOD WORK AT ORIENTAL BAY. WELLINGTON, July 15. The Wellington members of the Volunteer Sisterhood made their iirst start this morning. Helpers •were called for at the shortest nolice to prepare the kiosk at Oriental Bay for the reception of sick and, wounded men. The first women to go on duty were Mrs Denman, Mrs Gansonage, Miss Tennant, and Miss Gathbone, and, later, Miss Muriel Buttle. The matron expressed her pleasure at the end of the day with the services rendered by all the women. Some slight modifications of the scheme have had to be made owing to the fact that there is no accommodation for the nurses at the kiosk. Only women who were able to provide thenown lodgings were chosen at first. Later arrangements will bo made to accommodate any country women whose services may be required. The Oriental Bay Kiosk is intended for convalescent men, and at present it is impossible to say how many patients the kiosk will be required to accommodate. Many of the men need some hospital treatment to begin with, but, as they improve, they will come under the care of the, membora of the Volunteer .Sisterhood, ' all of whom, of course, work under the direction of the matron and staff sisters.
