-MOVEMENTS OF OCEAN-GOING STEAMERS. The Turakina from Wellington, arrived at Plymouth on the 12th inst. The N.Z. Shipping Company's Tcngariro arrived at Port Chalmers on the 14th inst. to discharge and load Homeward cargo. The Rcmuera sailed from Wellington for London on the 15th inst. The Ruahinc from London, via Hobart, arrived at Wellington on the 19th inst. The Kumara sailed from London for Wellington on the 15th inst. The Indiabarah sailed from Wellington for London on the 19th inst. THE SHORTAGE OF CARGO STEAMERS. NEW LINE FROM NEW YORK. In the present congested state of freights from Canada and the United States importers in New Zealand and Australia will bo relieved to hoar of the establishment of a. new line of steamers from Now York as an adjunct to the lines now running from North America to Australia and New Zealand. The new lino is being established by Barber and Co., the well-known New York firm of shipowners and charterers, who do a large business with South America and the East. The firm has decided to inaugurate a regular monthly lino of cargo steamers to Now Zealand and Australia, and the first steamer, the s.s. Chalistor, was advertised to"leave New York on June 30. The now line should receive a warm welcome and gene roue- support from New Zealand merchants and others, in order that their practical help in the initial stage of the.new service may give the owners encouragement to develop their enterprise. (SHIPMENT OF PRODUCE. The Whan gape took the following cargo from Dunedin to Melbourne: —1800 bags of cement, 10.860 sacks oaten and whoaten straw chaff, 1428 bales straw, 24,790 sacks oaten-sheaf chaff (for the Australian defence authorities), and 757 sheep. « SHIPMENT OF PRODUCE. • The Conargo, which sailed from Port Chalmers for Melbourne on Tuesday, took 11.163 sacks of straw chaff and 1974 bales ’ of straw from Dunedin to the latter pert.
