j - I I The works of the New Zealand Portland Cement Company, which wore situated at Limestone Island, Whan.garei, and which wore destroyed by five some months ago, arc being reconstructed as quickly as possible. Most of the machinery has been ' erected, and the arrival of a small portion sds being awaited. The company has been advised that it will arrive in time to enable operations to bo recommenced on October 1. The manager of the company stated last week that at the present time there appeared to bo a shortage of cement in Now Zealand. That was not really the case. Tho apparent shortage was duo to the company’s inability to produce cement since the Are.
