WELLINGTON NOTES.
(Frou Due Own Gprkksponprwt ) July 9. Although the Wellington Racing Chib’s meeting has been postponed, the annual conferences will be hold as usual. The Trotting Conference meets on Tuesday morning, .and the Country Racing Club’s Conference the same evening. The Racing Conference moots on Thursday of next week. Lame Duck (Earla Mor—Duckshot). one of the horses G. Price is bringing from England, won a Two-year-old Soiling Plate at Newmarket on One Thousand Guineas D-av. She was purchased bv Mr E. Farmer, acting presumably on behalf of the PTighdon trainer, for 280 gs. At Trontham on Thursday morning Multiply was sent over the schooling hurdles at Trontham with his trainer. G. Jones, in the saddle, and gave a satisfactory display. Scots Guard is on his way back to Auckland from Melbourne, and will probably be found competing at the 0.J.0. Grand National meeting. Mr J. Hawkins, of New Plymouth, owper of Lord Multifid, who has been on a visit to the Dominion for the past few weeks, returned to Sydney to-day. J. Coyle has arrived at Trentham with Awahou and Master Lupin.
It is reported that the useful performer Sir Alba has changed hands, and has gone into D. Munn’s stable at Hastings. Rockabyc has been retired from the Porirua team, and been sent home to her owner. Mr H. Gaisfad. She will probably be mated with Quaiantine. Mr C. P. Skorrett has been elected a vice-president of the Wellington Racing I Hub. vice Mr J 11. B. Coates (resigned). Mr Skerrott was a steward of the club about 15 years ago. All sorts of rumours are afloat about the Wellington Racing Club holding the winter meeting at Riccarton, Tauherinkau, Otaki, etc. Your correspondent expressed the opinion that it will be held at Trontham if it is held at all. I would not be surprised if the spring meeting was brought forward and air extra day put on, and the same done at the autumn or winter meeting to make up the two days. What 'would take on well at the present time would be a patriotic meeting in aid of the wounded soldiers, if a permit was available, and any club would undertake to run it. The Ferry (Achilles—Bulbul), who competed unsuccessfully in the colours of her trainer, J. *H. Prosser, this season, has been sold. She was shipped to her new owner at Gisborne yesterday.
