THE NATIONAL BANK.

WELLINGTON, Juno 17. In consequence of the retirement of Mr J. H. B. Coates from the position of general manager of the National Bank of New Zealand, and his taking a seat on the Board of Directors, Mr D. W. Duthio lias been appointed general manager, and Mr J. M. M'Lcan assistant general manager and chief inspector. Messrs Dnthic and M'Lean are two of the oldest officers hi the service of the bank, which they both ioined shortly after it was established in 1873. Mr Dnthic was manager of tho Auckland branch for over 20 years. Pfo came to Wellington in May, 1914, on Mr Coates’s departure on a visit to London, and has since been acting-general manager, the appointment being now confirmed, Mr M'Lean was manager for the bank at Nanier for some 22 years, and removed to Wellington in 1910 on being appointed chief inspector.
