A man named John Ryan, aged 55 years, was found dead at Kelso on Monday (says the Wyndham Farmer). Deceased was a saddler at Tapanui. An inquest was held before Mr Quin, acting coroner, and a verdict returned that death was duo to emaciation and exposure. The evidence showed that deceased had been on a drinking bout and wandered out into the snow, finally finding his way into a shed, where his body was found later. It is believed that deceased had distant relatives in Christchurch and a brother in Tasmania.
