A peculiar accident* happened to Mrs A. England, of Southbrook, on Thursday morning- (says the Lyttelton Times). She was on her way to Oxford and was seated in the train at the Rangievra station knitting. Her watch glass fell to the floor, and in stooping to pick it up she dropped her knitting. In recovering it she_ slipped, and one of the needles stabbed into her leg, entering a varicose vein. Profuse bleeding ensued, and after another lady passenger had staunched it somewhat by .applying a bandage. Mrs England was taken in a taxi to a doctor for further attention.
