NAVY LEAGUE.
OTAGO BRANCH.
The meeting of the executive of the above was held at the Education Board office on Friday afternoon; present—Messrs J. A. Johnstone (in the chair), N. Galbraith, P. Goyen, W. Smith, C. Macandrew, P. R. Sargood, P. Barr, and W. J. Morrell. Tho Schools Committee reported that it had selected the following subjects for this year’s school essay competition:—Senior: “ What British Supremacy at Sea has done for Britain and her Allies in the Present War.” Junior: “Nelson’s Life as a Sailor and its Lessons for us To-day.” The Rev. J Aitken will again act as examiner. Tho regular order for prize books has been forwarded to London. A cable conveying the regards of the league was sent by the secretary to Captain F. Waite, D.Si.O., on receipt of the news of his being wounded. A mounted map of the Dardanelles and framed pictures of “A Danish Raid” had been presented to each school branch.
