LONDON, May 14. The report of the Trust Agency Company of Australasia shows a profit of £67,298, A dividend of 10 per cent, for the year was declared, and £7298 carried forward. May 19. The Daily Chronicle states that Mr L. V. Harcourt, Secretary of State for the Colonies, is likely to succeed Lord Hardinee as Viceroy ,of India. May 20. The chairman of the British Broken Hill Company, speaking at the general meeting, said he was hopeful that a workable scheme would be evolved to treat zinc concentrates in Britain. Ho hoped the British Government would deal with German contracts in a similar manner to that adopted by the Australian Government. May 21. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company has declared an interim dividend of 2 5 per cent. BUDAPEST, May 20. Owing to a quarrel with the Archduke Fredrick, General Auffenberg (ex-Minister of War) was arrested. Presumably he was about to publish his memoirs and threatened to exnose the archduke. NEW YORK, May 21. In the Barnes-Roosevelt libel action the jury returned a verdict in favour of Mr Roosevelt, provided the costs were equally divided. As the court was unable to agiee to that proviso, the jury again retired to reconsider their verdict. May 23. The jury found that Mr Roosevelt did not libel Mr Barnes, and gave him the verdict. Mr Barnes gave notice of appeal. TORONTO, May 13. The search for the Arctic explorer Stefanssen has proved fruitless.
