MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Tuesday, December 1. (Before Mr H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.) Judgment was given for plaintiff by default in the folowing cases: —Joseph B. Snell v. Robert Gougli, claim £1 ss, for goods (costs 6s); Lou;sa Philp v. John Barnes (Fairfield), claim 10s 4d, for goods (costs 10s) ; W. S. Reddell and Co. v. Plarold Banks, £6 14s 6d, for goods (costs 23s 6d); John Swan and Co. v. George Herzog (Auckland), £3 10s, for goods (costs 10s); Moreton and Bradfield v. H. G. Walmsley (Palmerston North), £22 12s, on two promissory notes (costs £2 14s). _ J. Deuchrass v. Walter Clark, claim £ll 17s 3d, on a judgment summons. —The defendant, who was not in attendance, was ordered to pay the claim forthwith, with costs (15s); in default twelve days’ imprisonment. A. E. Usherwood and Co. v. Albert Edward Admorb (Foxton), claim £1 17s 8d for putty, etc. —Mr Moore appeared for plaintiffs. —The evidence for the defence had been taken in the North Island, and it was contended that the money had been paid, and that nothing was owing.—Further evidence having been taken, judgment was given for plaintiffs for the sum claimed, with costs (6s). Jessie Robertson, judgment for 3s (costs) ; Septimus Owen v. Louis Spcdding, £4 2s 7d, for meat supplied (costs 10s) ; New Z< aland Express Company v. H. Cook (Huntcrville), £45 8s lid, for cartage (costs £2 14s); R. Hudson and Co. v. David J. Bishop (Fairlio), £7 2s sd, on a dishonoured cheque (costs 23s fid); William Duke v. Charles F. Falconer (Kelso), £7 16s fid, on dishonoured promissohy note (costs 26s fid); David Jack v. Belgcnio Liberate (Port Chalmers), £5 3s, for a gramophone and records . (costs 23s fid); Thomas 11. Clark v. R. Turnbull, £1 Is fid, on an admitted account (costs ss); Thomas L. Adams v. George Churchill, £2, for money lent (costs 10s) ; P. Hayman and Co. v. Walter A. East (Christchurch), £1 15s 3d, for goods (costs ss).
