Extensive bush fires, fanned by the high winds, have been raging on the Takaka Hills during the past few days, and it is stated that damage iias boon done to fencing, etc., whilst newly-felled bush which in the ordinary course of events would not be burned until the beginning of the new year, has been cleared {says the Motuoka Star). It is repoited that the Takaka track for a distance of about one mile and a-half wua swept by the flames last week. It has boon announced by the member for the Kaipara electorate (says_ the Auckland Star) that a survey of the North Auckland Main Trunk line, from Kirikopum southwards, will bo undertaken without delay, anti that the £15.000 recently voted for line formation will be made available immediately*
