WESTERN TAIERI DRAINAGE BOARD.

The monthly meeting of Iho Western Taiori Land Drainage Board was held on November 30; present—Messrs Gibson (chairman), Campbell, Doull, Miller, Thomson. CORRESPONDENCE. Mr Robert Shennan forwarded a formal claim for £l2O, and Mrs Helen Scott a claim for £lll, being compensation through the board’s acton in taking bores out of the embankment adjoining Mr F. Buchanan’s property, whereby they alleged their properties wore likely to be by Hoods. Mr Shonnan also claimed £l5O further compensation for damage which was likely to be done to his property through the excavating done by the board along the HenleyBerwick road. —The board decided to inform these claimants that it did not recognise any liability in these matters. Mr R. Summers wrote asking the board to have something done to prevent his section from being flooded by every high tide, lie pointed out that there wore two depressions in Buchanan’s road, and if these were filled in the inroads of the tide, would be effectually stopped.—Referred to the engineer for a report. HENLEY-BEEWICK ROAD. A deputation from the Taiori County Council waited on the board in connection with the metalling of the Honloy-Borwick road.—The Chairman stated that on the understanding that the council would metal the road, which also served the purpose of an embankment, the board raised it some six months ago. Since that time the now formation had been scoured out somewhat. The matter of putting the road in order was discussed at some length, after which it was decided that the portion of the road which had been scoured away should be raised by the board at the council’s expense, and that the metalling be done by the council. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £7OO 17s 4d were passed for payment. engineer’s report. The Engineer reported that the cleaning out of “O” drain had been finished. Wain’s drain from Thomson and Co.’s drain to the Poplar road drain had been cleaned out, also the main Momona drain and the crosscut from Momona dam. The lower end of Kirk’s road drain had been dragged and cleaned up, and some maintenance and fencing work done on the lower contour channel. The lake drain from the pump towards the Henley road was being enlarged to allow of the water from that district reaching the pump. The retimbering _of the old pump drain at “B” road was being carried out. —The report was adopted.
