BRITAIN’S FOOD SUPPLIES
LONDON, July 10. In the House of Commons Mr Rowland Hunt asked how many weeks’ supply of wheat and flour were available in the event of sudden war. Could an assurance be given that the country was safe against starvation? Mr Asquith replied that, in the public interest, he thought a reply should not be given. The question was kept under continuous observation, and he could give the assurance that everything that could, be done was being done.
