WHAT WE SHOULD EAT!

LONDON, June 19

M. Elie Metchinkoff, professor at the Pasteur Institute, Paris, in a message to the British people, advises them to cultivate intestinal gardens with the same care as they bestow upon terrestrial gardens. He should begin the day with a pot of soured milk, afterwards take a plate of vegetables, or bouillon, and a cup of weak tea. He should take meat and vegetables at his lunch or dinner, but the consumption of meat should be very restricted, though he does not insist that it should be avoided altogether.
