A man who was arrested for drunkenness in Palmerston North on Wednesday put up something of a record. He was arrested three times in one day. He made the excuse: “I was a bit sick, your Worship,’ but the unfeeling magistrate fined him 20s. Tree-planting has progressed of lato on the hills which enclose the city of Wellington, and (according to the Mayor) planting is to be continued until the hills are clothed as thickly as they were on the occasion of the advent of the white man.
