VETERANS’ HOME.

ANNUAL MEETING OF GOVERNORS. WELLINGTON, December 9. The annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Veterans’ Home was held this morning, his Excellency the Governor presiding. It was reported that during the year the capital fund had increased from £5440 to £9740, but owing to a decrease of subscriptions and collections of £lO7 a deficit of £272 had to be charged against th« accumulated fund. The average number of resident veterans was 38, the cost of maintenance averaging 13s lljd per week per head. The Governor was re-elected president, the Hon. E. Mitchelson treasurer, and Colonel R. J. Collins secretary. The board passed a resolution of sympathy with the widow and family of Sir Wm. Russell, one of the founders ol the Institution.
