DEATH OF A CHILD.

THE EASTBOURNE SENSATION. WELLINGTON, November 21. An inquest was opened to-day on the body of the child found under a house at Eastbourne a few days ago. Mrs Myall, of Christchurch, said that her house was licensed as a home for children. On January 16 she received into her home a female child about five months old, named Thelma May Davis. The child was taken away by its mother on September 30. Witness visited the morgue last week and identified certain articles of clothing that she had put on the child. In witness’s opinion the child was a half-caste Chinese. Witness could not identify the body as that of Thelma May Davis, although she was of oninion that it was. * Another witness gave evidence as to finding the body under the cottage at Ronabay. . The inquest was adjourned.
