SECOND BALLOT REPEAL.
BREAK IN THE STONEWALL. (From Ocr Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, November 19. The stonewall on the Legislature Act Amendment Bill (to which the Government intends to add a new clause repealing the Second Ballot Act) which was begun by the Opposition last evening, was continued until half-past 6 this morning, when it was suspended for the time being by the hand of death. The “stonewall” was in operation when dawn broke. Shortly after 5 o’clock Sir Joseph Ward moved to report progress. The House presented a haggard appearance (with the exception of those who had been lot off for a few hours so as to enable them to achieve fresh endeavours at a later date), but the stonewall continued. As the morning More on members of the Opposition put in almost pathetic appeals to be allowed to go home. At half-past 6 the Prime Minister announced that Mr Lauren son had passed away, and he moved to report progress, a motion which was gladly agreed to by a weary and sleepy House. The House, on meeting this afternoon, transacted only formal business, and then adjourned until to morrow out of respect to the memory of the late Mr Lauivnson. It is understood that the stonewall will be continued to-morrow
