The winner went to the front early, and won easily by six lengths, Little Bonos four lengths in front of the third horse. Time, 3min 52 2-sseo. A meeting of stewards was held to inquire into Alton’s running, but no action was taken. OMAKA HANDICAP, of 60sovs. Seven furlongs.—2 Borsil, 7.0, 1; 4 Rustic, 7.8, 2; 5 Merry Glen, 6.12, 3. Also started: Indra 8.1, Astonishment 7.15, Merry Breeze 6.12. Merry Glen had the worst of the start, but towards trio back of the course moved into third position. When the straight was reached Rustic replaced India. Borsil managed to stay, and won by a length, the third horse close up. Time, linin 30eec. RIVERLANDS HANDICAP, of lOOsovs. One mile. —1 Imarose. 8.5, 1; 5 Turna, 8.2, 2; 2 Portland Lady, 8.1, 3. Also started: Huia 8.12, Commotion 7.12. Portland Lady got well away at the start, followed by Imarose. Huia got a bud start, but went to third place at the back of the course. In The straight Imarose assumed the lead, and despite a challenge by Turna (a eon of Conqueror) won by half a length, the third horse some distance away. Time, Irnin 44s ec. DASH HANDICAP, of 40sovs. Five furlongs.—2 Wailand, 7.2, 1; 7 Ruination, 6.15, 2; 6 Trilby, 6.10, 3. Also started: Powder Fox 8.5, Sir Moutoa 8.4, Waldomar 8.0, Excitement 7.7. A good race. Won by a head. FOURTH TROT', of 40sovs. One mile.— 1 Brown Nugget, 15sec, 1; 2 Little Bones, 14sec, 2; 5 Camlet, 23scc, 3. Also started: Storm Cloud 6scc, Takaka 17eec. Won cosily. Time, 2min 37sec. TELEGRAPH HANDICAP, of BOsovs. Six furlongs. —5 Glenspring, 9.0, 1 : 3 Loapuki, 9.10, 2; 1 Merry Guy, 9.0, 5. Also started: Mount Victoria 8.12, Portland Lady 8.2, Huia 8.2. The best race of the day. The field was bunched at the entrance to the straight. Glcnsnring shot out, and won by a long neck, the second and third being nearly a dead heat. Time, Irnin 16sec. SECOND WELTER HANDICAP, of 60sovs. Six furlongs.—l Sartovna, 8.7, 1; 2 Achillcdes, 9.12, 2; 3 Rustic, 3. Also started: Trilby 7.10, Memo Glen 7.10. Saitovna was always prominent, and won by half a length. Time, linin 16seo.
