LONDON, November 19. The Oxford University Athletic Committee, owing to the Rhodes scholars from Victoria competing in the Freshmen’s sports, has resolved that residence at another university shall disqualify a competitor from competing in the Freshmen’s *-orts. U i vi- 24 arc not allowed to compete in the University sports. The average age of Rhodes scholars on entering Oxford is 22. The resolution will become effective in October 1914. LONDON, November 21. Oxford’s disqualification of Rhodes scholars has caused widespread dissatisfaction.. The press is protesting, and even the university magazines take exception to the exclusion, which is considered invidious, unnecessary, and petty.
